Use BirdChat with intent.
By accessing the BirdChat website or installing and using the Android app, you agree to these Terms of service. If you use BirdChat through a company, community, or other workspace, you also agree to follow that workspace's rules and the instructions of its administrator.
If you do not agree, do not access the service. If you are accepting on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you have authority to bind it to these terms.
Your account, your responsibility.
BirdChat accounts are created and authenticated by the homeserver you choose or your workspace provides. Keep sign-in details, recovery keys, and devices secure. You are responsible for activity from your account and for telling your administrator promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
- Provide information that is accurate enough for your workspace to identify you.
- Use only accounts and rooms you are authorized to access.
- Do not share credentials or recovery keys in a way that gives another person control of your account.
A workspace administrator or homeserver operator may suspend or remove access under their own policies. BirdChat may also restrict access when necessary to protect the service, users, or the law.
Make room for other people.
Do not use BirdChat to break the law, threaten or harass people, impersonate someone, distribute malware, attempt unauthorized access, or interfere with another person's use of the service.
Do not scrape accounts or messages, probe systems for vulnerabilities without permission, send bulk unsolicited messages, or use automation that creates unreasonable load. Workspace-specific rules may be stricter; follow them when they apply.
Your words stay yours.
You retain ownership of messages, files, profile information, and other material you submit. You give the relevant homeserver and BirdChat service providers the limited permissions needed to store, transmit, display, and back up that content for the people and rooms you choose.
You are responsible for having the rights and permissions required to share content. Do not send material that violates another person's privacy, intellectual-property rights, or the rules of your workspace.
End-to-end encryption can limit what service operators can see, but it does not make unlawful or harmful conduct acceptable. Recipients may copy, report, or preserve content you send them.
Useful, not unlimited.
We work to keep BirdChat available and secure, but the service may change, pause, or become unavailable for maintenance, upgrades, network failures, or events outside our control. Your homeserver may have separate uptime, storage, and support commitments.
- BirdChat is provided for personal and workspace communication.
- The Android app is offered as-is where it is legally available.
- We do not promise that every message will be delivered or retained forever.
To the extent allowed by law, BirdChat is provided without warranties beyond those that cannot be excluded. Nothing in these terms limits rights or remedies that applicable law does not allow us to limit.
Keep the agreement current.
We may update these terms when the product, law, or operating model changes. We will post the new version on this page and update the date above. If a change materially affects your rights, we will provide a clearer notice where practical. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the revised terms.
If you need help with an account, start with your workspace administrator or the person who invited you. They can identify the homeserver operator responsible for your access.
